Our take
Nugenix is worth evaluating by the exact formula, not by the brand name alone. Total-T and Total-T2 both list 400 mg of Tesnor, an ingredient blend with published human research. That is a useful starting point, but it is not proof that either finished product will meaningfully improve your symptoms or outperform another supplement.
Choose between them on the current label, your other supplements, price and suitability. There is no head-to-head result in the sources below that establishes Total-T2 as the better testosterone product.
This is a desk review of US manufacturer information and published research. We have not taken these products, commissioned laboratory testing or measured users’ testosterone. Nutrition Reviewed shares ownership with Testogen, one of the alternatives discussed below.
First, check which Nugenix you mean
Nugenix sells more than one formula. Reviews of an older product can describe ingredients that are absent from the bottle you are considering. Total-T2 is a distinct formulation; do not assume a review of the original Nugenix or Total-T applies to it.
| Label item | Nugenix Total-T | Nugenix Total-T2 |
|---|---|---|
| Serving | 3 capsules | 3 capsules |
| Servings per bottle | 30 | 30 |
| Tesnor | 400 mg | 400 mg |
| Citrulline malate (2:1) | 1,125 mg | 1,125 mg |
| elevATP | 150 mg | 150 mg |
| Eurycoma longifolia / tongkat ali | 100 mg | 150 mg |
| Boron | 10 mg | 10 mg |
| Zinc | 1 mg | 1 mg |
| Vitamin D3 | Not listed | 20 mcg (800 IU) |
| Vitamin B6 / B12 | 2 mg / 2.4 mcg | Not listed |
| S7 blend | Not listed | 25 mg |
Selected ingredients, not a complete safety or allergen statement. Both pages list gelatin capsules. “Not listed” means absent from the manufacturer’s displayed formula, not independently laboratory-tested absence. Confirm the actual bottle before use. [2][3]
The practical difference is a change in ingredient mix. Total-T2 lists more tongkat ali by weight, adds vitamin D3 and S7, and does not list the B vitamins shown for Total-T. A higher amount or a longer ingredient list does not by itself establish a better result. Extract specifications and the research behind the actual dose matter too.
How persuasive is the research?
Tesnor has relevant ingredient-level research
A randomized, placebo-controlled study assigned 120 healthy men aged 36–55 to 200 mg or 400 mg of LN18178, also called Tesnor, or placebo for 56 days. It reported improvements in its symptom measure and testosterone outcomes. The 400 mg dose is relevant because both Nugenix formulas list that amount. [5]
There are important limits: this was a short trial of the ingredient blend, not a trial of the complete Total-T or Total-T2 formulas. Its participants do not represent every man with fatigue, a diagnosed hormone disorder or multiple medications. It also does not establish durable benefit after stopping, long-term safety or superiority over Testogen.
The category evidence is uneven
A systematic review of 32 trials of herbal ingredients found statistically significant testosterone increases in nine studies, with only six studies rated at low risk of bias. Differences in populations, extracts and doses limit how confidently results transfer to a shelf product. [6]
For the remaining ingredients, a manufacturer’s explanation of a biological pathway is not a clinical result for the finished supplement. Likewise, a claim about exercise performance or nitric oxide should not be read as a measured testosterone increase. We would not turn those claims into a promised percentage change or guaranteed timetable.
Reasons to look closer
- Amounts for the main listed ingredients are visible.
- Tesnor has a human trial at a listed dose.
- A three-capsule daily serving may suit your routine.
Reasons to be cautious
- Ingredient research does not validate the complete formula.
- T2’s changes do not establish clinical superiority.
- Both formulas list 10 mg boron, which needs counting alongside other supplements.
Nugenix vs Testogen: what actually changes?
We have a financial interest in Testogen sales. The useful comparison is therefore specific and checkable, rather than a score awarded by a related publisher.

Testogen’s broader nutrient content may appeal if you want that combination in one product, but it also creates more potential overlap with a multivitamin. Its vitamin D serving alone equals the US adult tolerable upper intake level of 4,000 IU a day; that limit is not a daily target. [8] Neither a lower nor a higher vitamin dose proves which formula will work better for you.

Compare checkout cost, not bottle price
Check the exact product name, daily servings, shipping, tax and whether the purchase renews. A discounted trial, multi-bottle bundle and one-off retail bottle are different offers. A guarantee has practical conditions: find the deadline, opened-bottle rules, return postage and cancellation process before paying. We do not reproduce a promotional price that may already have changed.
Who should take extra care?
A supplement review cannot establish your testosterone level. Persistent changes in libido, energy or strength warrant a conversation with a clinician. Diagnosis of hypogonadism involves relevant symptoms and consistently low testosterone, usually checked with separate early-morning blood tests. [7]
Bring the complete bottle label and a list of medicines and supplements to a pharmacist or clinician, especially if you have a medical condition or a procedure planned. Do not combine several “testosterone boosters” or add extra capsules to chase a faster result. Follow the current product warnings; adult men’s supplements are not products for children.
Common questions
Is Nugenix testosterone or a form of TRT?
These products are marketed as dietary supplements, not prescribed testosterone. A supplement is not a substitute for assessment or prescribed treatment of a hormone disorder.
Is Total-T2 better than Total-T?
The labels differ, but that does not answer the clinical question. The shared Tesnor dose means its trial cannot distinguish the two finished products.
Is Nugenix FDA approved?
The FDA does not approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness before they are marketed. A manufacturing or registration claim should not be mistaken for approval of a product’s benefits. [11]
Would we automatically choose Testogen instead?
No. Our commercial connection is a reason to scrutinize this comparison. Testogen has a different formula and its own limitations, including its vitamin D level. Check suitability and total cost before choosing either.
